Cheryl loves American history sites that can be seen in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Here Cheryl talks to her 100-year old Great Aunt Bessie Clark Nussey in Spotsylvania County, Virginia at a family reunion about 1988. When NBC Weather Reporter Willard Scott talked about Bessie's 104th birthday on the Today Show, he noted that Bessie's father was a Confederate soldier who surrendered with Gen. Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House in 1865. Her grandfather, who attended her wedding at the turn of the 20th Century, met the Marquis de LaFayette in the year 1824 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. So Bessie knew a relative who met a general of the American Revolution and a general of the American Civil War.
